Dr. Whittaker

This will likely be the final update on the Whittaker family as it relates to the kidnapping of Bob and the wounding of Bob and Annette on August 2nd, 2009.

Bob’s wounds have healed very well and his recovery has been excellent. The expected bone graft was never necessary because the remnants of his bone were able to stabilize and grow back together. We are thankful for his healing. Annette of course fully recovered from her wound as well. The guard, named America is back in the vicinity of the hospital and is thankful to be alive. We are grateful to God for sparing his life since he was the worst wounded of the three and the only one that was intentionally shot…three times.

Annette and Ozioma returned to Nigeria a few days ago. They have returned to the Jos area in North-Central, Nigeria. It is the city where Ozioma has been attending school. He was very eager to be back.

Many funds were given to increase security at NCH after Bob’s kidnapping. Many of those improvements have already happened and others are ongoing. In addition, Annette specifically sought funds to build a security wall around the doctor’s compound, school and at the roadside of the hospital. She was successful in her efforts and the wall has now been started.

Bob is planning to return to Nigeria in the near future too, but is in Nashville at present and may make a trip to Haiti before returning.
