Medical Scholarships

Since 1992 we have accepted over one hundred Nigerian medical, nursing, pharmacy and lab technology students into our scholarship program. We began this program in order to raise up medical people, from among the churches of Christ in Nigeria. For only $1200 per year one can help send a student through medical, nursing, lab technology or pharmacy school.

Medical Scholarship students in NigeriaThe students must:

  1. be Christians
  2. be recommended by their home congregations
  3. have gained acceptance into their respective schools
  4. agree by written contract to work for us, or whomever we designate, upon completion of their course of study for at least as many years as they received the scholarship.

Currently we have 20 students in several different universities and in various schools of nursing, and each of them has an American sponsor. Of those who have graduated, many are now working for us. Some are involved in their one-year of compulsory government service. We have the option of placing these students where they are most needed.

Who supports the students? People like you! Congregations are supporting several students. Some physicians are supporting medical students. Two retired pharmacists have sponsored pharmacy students. One optometrist sponsored a student in optometry school. A widow sponsored a lab technology student in memory of her deceased husband, who was a lab technologist. Several couples have decided to sponsor a student because they are excited about the program.
